Dabkeh

Inspired by the power of Dabkeh, Mehdi Kerkouche infuses his artistic vision into every movement of this traditional dance, transforming it into a powerful work combining urban and contemporary dance.

About cultural diversity

Much more than a simple dance show, DABKEH is a celebration of cultural diversity and artistic expression. Mehdi Kerkouche draws on his personal origins to blend tradition and modernity, creating a festive meeting of the Arab and Western worlds. A vibrant tribute that leaves no one indifferent to the effervescence of EMKA's dancers.

It was thanks to DABKEH that Aurélie Dupont spotted Mehdi Kerkouche's work and invited him to create ET SI for Ballet National de l'Opéra de Paris.

Note of intent

Of Algerian origin, I've always been fascinated by the energy of oriental dance. As I delved deeper into the various styles associated with this culture, I became fascinated by the power and energy of Dabke.
