360

Artistic file

With eight dancers, three musicians, a 360° stage design, and live electronic music by Lucie Antunes, Mehdi Kerkouche's new live music version breaks down the barriers between audience and performers.

360 Live Music, a unique immersive experience

Designed for a variety of venues—rooms without tiers, festivals, public spaces—and therefore adaptable to different configurations (indoors, outdoors, day or night), the show invites the audience to experience dance in a different way: standing all around the stage, moving, at the heart of the creation and, above all, together.

“I want an experience where the audience feels as alive as the artists.” - Mehdi Kerkouche

Note of intent

In my new creation, entitled 360, I explore the notion of community and the dynamics that unite us as a collective in an increasingly polarized world. Today, our interactions are often marked by extremes, whether through our notifications, public spaces, social networks, or the media. In response to this, I am convinced that live performance offers an unparalleled collective experience, a space where it is still possible to feel the power of unity.

360 aims to create an engaging atmosphere where the audience, standing and free to move around, is invited to move throughout the performance. This freedom allows everyone to enjoy a unique experience, similar to that of a concert, thus promoting an intimate connection with the artists and their world. The 360-degree scenography envelops the audience, offering them different perspectives and sensations, regardless of their location in the space. This setup invites everyone to engage fully in the creative process.

At the heart of this creation, eight dancers from diverse artistic backgrounds come together to forge a common language through dance. Transcending their original techniques, they create a living harmony, illustrating our ability to collaborate and celebrate the richness of working together.

360 is therefore an ode to exchange, encounter, and collective experience, a sensory journey that reminds us of the power of our unity in a changing world.

“At Chaillot, the choreographer has the audience standing around the table where the dancers perform. An irresistible show. [...] The concept? Simple as pie and devilishly effective: place a raised circular stage in the middle of an empty space, erect a circular steel tube structure on top of it, then play some pulsating music. That's it.”

“For 360, his new creation, he has doubled down on his ambition and brought the collective's enthusiasm to bear on the club music of French percussionist and performer Lucie An tunes. Heir to pop stars like Madonna, he is sure to galvanize crowds with his monumental stage design and rousing dances.”

"By energetically blending circus and street dance, 360, Mehdi Kerkouche's new creation, provokes euphoria at Chaillot, the National Dance Theater. [...] The expression is resolutely communicative. Each solo, meticulously orchestrated, triggers the audience's enthusiasm, as if in a battle. [...] A true hymn to letting go."

“An immersive choreography that breaks down the barriers between audience and performers. Artists giving it their all in front of an audience giving it their all: this resulted in a choreographic explosion worthy of the greatest shows. Once again, Mehdi Kerkouche asserts that pop dances have their place in the pantheon of contemporary aesthetics.”
