La Politesse, a hybrid solo performance combining dance and theatre, written and performed by Cindy Emélie from the Compagnie Bleu Noire, questions personal, social and gendered injunctions and explores insolence as a potential for emancipation; a sensitive reflection on intergenerational transmission between the body, memory and speech. These injunctions were passed on to her through her upbringing on the island of Martinique.
